It seems that the U.S is not as technologically advanced as we think we are:
23rd in the world in broadband penetration? We've gotten lazy. - March 13, 2007 at 3:36 PM

This slide show is so powerful. The information was striking and eye opening. I know that our students need to learn about technology, but there is one issue...having the students be able to access the information they need to. Either things are blocked or the students don't have the access to computers, or schools don't have the money to provide the students with the access. So I may just be projecting my own frustrations, but I can only state what I see.

I tell my kids they are competing with students all over the World but I had no idea how competitive the world has become. Chins has more high IQ people than we have people. That is a waker upper.

I had a lot of "ah-ha" moments! I was particularly amazed about the fact that China will soon be the #1 English speaking country in the world ... what does that say about our country! The only question I have is that I am ashamed to say I don't know what a "wiki" is.

This video is so powerful. As I was watching it, all I was thinking about was how I want to share it with everyone in my building! It is inspiring and educational and really makes you want to be a better teacher. Just when I think I am incorporating a decent amount of technology in my lessons, I think again and realize that I need to start reading more and learning more so I can pass along this information to my students.
We are a part of a global economy and in order for our students to compete, they need to appreciate what the other countries are doing and want to do it better.
I think back to the assembly we had today on the countries that are warring in Africa. When I left the assembly, I felt so privileged to be living in a country that is high-tech, values education and innovative. After watching this video, I feel like our country needs to pay more attention to our educational system and help our learners by using only the newest technologies. We have an amazing educational system in the US, but it definitely needs to think about the future and our students’ future. - March 13, 2007 at 3:38 PM

The video contained a lot of eye-opening statistics about technology and the younger generation. I was amazed that China has a larger English speaking population than any other country. How does the United States compare to this statistic? Also, more text messages are sent each day than there are people in the entire world. That's a lot of wireless communication!
I consider myself computer-literate, but after reading about some of the new technology terms, I am questioning how much I really know. What exactly is a Wikki? And while I am familiar with the term Podcast, what is and why are they so popular? - March 13, 2007 at 3:39 PM
